Contact Making Event “EVS POWER” 2017
The Contact Making Event "EVS POWER" took place in Rezekne, Latvia. The aim of the CME "EVS POWER" was to enhance the cooperation between organizations from Programme countries within Key Action 1 of the Erasmus + Programme Mobility projects for young people and youth workers for more active and successful work in the EVS programme. The objectives were to build a new qualitative partnership and a strong network between organizations from Programme countries, to increase the capacity of youth organizations in managing EVS projects, in work with young European volunteers, to foster long-term collaboration between EU organizations in the framework of EVS, to promote EVS, to develop intercultural education and lifelong learning for young people, to increase social inclusion of marginalised young people, to develop structures and instruments for quality and sustainability in the EVS projects. The project lasted 7 days from 5th till 11th March 2017. EA "World - Our Home" hosted participants from 11 Programme countries: Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Spain, Turkey, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia - totally 35 participants from 11 organizations.
European Youth Exchange Project "Tolerance and Diversity in Common Europe" 2017
The youth exchange project "Tolerance and Diversity in Common Europe" took place on 20th May- 29th May 2017 in Rezekne, Latvia. It was organized by European Association "World-Our Home" which hosted 40 participants from 5 youth organizations coming from European countries. Young participants who are connected with culture, art and common desire to improve communication of people came from Italy, Slovenia, Spain, Malta and Latvia. The preparatory meeting for the leaders was organized on 5th-7th April 2017.
The project aim was to raise youth awareness about such important issues of nowadays as diversity of people or nations and tolerance between them in the common Europe. The project was based on the methods of non-formal education for young people about our multinational and multicultural society with different religions and traditions and about strengthening of tolerance and patience among different communities in our common European society.
The main idea of the project was to present the main European values through discussions, round tables, presentations, theatre workshops during the project and the final performance at the end of the project in the framework of Art and Music Festival "Seven Hills Fest" in Rezekne, to unleash youth potentials to be creative and innovative. The theatre workshops helped to develop identity, imagination and thinking of youth. Young people spent 10 days in the East-Latvian Centre of Art "Zeimuls", exploring and changing ideas about the themes of multiculturalism, diversity, tolerance, human rights and democracy, using the creative way to show them and promoting common international artistic youth initiatives.
This project stimulated youth active participation, understanding of important European issues and values such as tolerance, diversity, democracy, human rights, as well as creativity, development of common innovative projects, strengthening youth awareness of perspective of European citizenship pointing out their rights and the main role in the construction of the current and future Europe.
“Staff Training: Improving Capacities on European Project Management and Online Engagement” 2017
In the framework of Erasmus + programme European Association “World-Our Home” organized the project together with the organization “Out of the Box International” from Belgium, Brussels “Staff Training: Improving Capacities on European Project Management and Online Engagement”.
This was the training course for staff members. The course explored the use of online Learning Management Systems (LMS), developed participants’ competences to manage Internet educational platforms, as also developed educational courses online. It also supported our organization to fully engage within the digital era, and provide online educational programme for adult learners. The participating staff learned how to develop webinars and online courses within their education programmes, centers and organizations. As the outcome of the training, each participant developed one ICT product (Short webinar, or Digital Course). The training included also a visit to ICT based Innovation Centre.
Youth exchange project "EcoMission" 2016
The European youth exchange project "EcoMission" took place on 17.04.-25.04.2016 in Rezekne, Latvia. It was organized by European Association "World-Our Home" which hosted 42 participants from 6 organizations coming from European countries. 16-26 years old young participants who are interested in ecological issues came from Bulgaria, Malta, France, Spain, Turkey and Latvia. The preparatory meeting for the leaders was organized in Rezekne on 8-10 March 2016.
The aim of the project is: through international cooperation to raise youth awareness of European citizenship, developing ecological knowledge, as well as attitudes and behavior in the natural environment.
Recognizing the vulnerable situation of nature as well as its great importance in people`s lives, ecological education, thinking and behavior in nature becomes more and more popular. During the project through non-formal activities European youth changed the ideas, how to deal with the European environmental problems, engage in problem-solving, develop ecological knowledge, thinking, attitude and behavior in nature as well in the framework of the action "Big Clean Up" young people cleaned the Latvian nature.
During this youth exchange different non-formal educational methods were used: discussions, presentations, round table discussions, games, team work, intercultural evening, simulation games in order to contribute non-formal learning process.
This project helped young people to understand each other, evaluate themselves as European citizens, learn about the similarities and differences between different nations. Young people learned to respect and preserve the nature, to be tolerant, to take care of the environment, to think about the sustainable development of the environment and of cleaning up the surroundings. The project promoted the understanding of ecological problems, respect to the nature and long-term environmental sustainable development. We hope that in the result of the project young people brought home the idea of "Big Clean Up" and spread around the Europe in order to make the nature and environment around us more sustainable and beautiful.
Short-term EVS project "European Culture Crossroad in Rezekne" 2016
The short-term EVS project "European Culture Crossroad in Rezekne" gathered 10 European volunteers from 4 European countries - Italy, Portugal, Spain and France in Rezekne. The volunteers worked in European Association "World-Our Home" for 2 months (59 days). The main aim of this project was to promote cooperation between Latgale region and European countries, creating closer links between young people from different countries, developing their skills, intercultural knowledge and acquiring international experience organizing European People Festival 2016 in Rezekne. In this way we wanted to raise awareness of European citizenship among young people from different European countries and local people, to involve them into European social processes, giving them the opportunity to communicate, gain experience and learn something new about European cultures.
The volunteers from Italy, Portugal, Spain and France worked in European Association "World-Our Home", as well as helped Rezekne City Culture Department in organization of European People Festival 2016 in Rezekne. The important working responsibilities for volunteers were the following: to share their national culture, traditions, taking part in children's summer camps, to prepare local people for International Festival, to inform people about this event and EVS possibilities. The volunteers shared their knowledge, experience and skills, at the same time receiving new skills, knowledge, and competences from the staff, festival organizers, cultural workers.
The volunteers helped to build Eurovillage, worked in the Information Office, helped to arrange the schools for living, created decorations, worked with the Festival newspapers every day. The volunteers met European Festival delegations in Rezekne, provided them with booklets, EPF maps. During the European People Festival the volunteers assisted national delegations, informed about any changes in the time table, timing, rules. Participating in this project, young people got to know another culture, met delegations from different European countries, evaluated their and EPF participants’ integration in local and international environment. They saw diversity of people, made conclusions, saw that each culture is unique. Project developed tolerance and understanding of diversity. The volunteers gained new knowledge and experience in organization of a large cultural event.
European Seminar "Youth as European Citizens" 2015
The seminar "Youth as European Citizens" took place in Rezekne, Latvia from 9th till 15th August 2015. All together 12 European organizations with the amount of 33 participants from 11 European countries took part in the seminar: Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Greece, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey and Latvia. The main aim of this seminar was to increase the understanding of European citizenship and democracy, to share the values of the European Union, to take care of cultural heritage of different nations, in such way bringing Europe closer to its citizens by understanding and appreciating its values, advantages, key policies and priorities.
There were explored different conceptions of becoming European citizens, and especially for young people who are more attracted to Europe, with special accent on benefits that youth can have as real Europeans. Also the participants discussed not only what Europe can give to its citizens but what European citizens can give to the European Union, and in such way to strengthen and unite it. The seminar was organized with a special aim to involve European organizations to discuss together the topics about European citizenship, about mutual understanding among different nationalities and religions, about respect and patience to each other, about the sense of democracy and to what extent the democracy can be opened and allowed, about the safety for European citizens, and in such way to get more European awareness and to get more patient and understandable to each other.
As a result, this seminar increased participants` knowledge and sensibility about the European Union. The seminar lasted five days. Four days were devoted to the reflection of the concept of being a European citizen, its true identity based on shared values and rights of the European citizenship. The participants worked in several groups and all together. Some workshops were devoted to the programme “Erasmus +” with the intention to give to the participants more knowledge about different opportunities for youth. On the fifth day the participants could plan their future projects on the topics of European citizenship, as well as during the seminar participants had a time to work on development of future cooperation between partner organizations.
The main results of the project were the new knowledge, competencies, attitudes, international and intercultural experience, new contacts to create a strong network for the future cooperation in the Erasmus + programme and ideas for European awareness, which project participants will be able to use in work with young people.
The Contact Making Event "European Voluntary Society" 2015
The Contact Making Event "European Voluntary Society" took place in Rezekne, Latvia. The project lasted 6 days from 12th till 18th April 2015.
EA "World - Our Home" hosted participants from 11 Programme countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Czech Republic, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Turkey and Latvia - totally 35 participants. Participants were youth workers, youth leaders, directors of organizations and young people working on matters related to voluntary work. The project goal was to empower youth organizations for running EVS projects as a tool for facilitating and promoting a broad-based and successful partnership and to promote holistic approaches to development processes through hosting and sending European volunteers as carriers of innovation, interculturalism and diversity.
Through this project the participants had the opportunity to share their experience, to arrange new contacts, to strengthen and structure the cooperation among the partners on transnational voluntary projects, as well as to increase understanding of European citizenship and democracy, to share the values of the European Union, in such way bringing Europe closer to its citizens and especially EVS volunteers by understanding and appreciating its values, advantages, key policies and priorities. EA "World - Our Home" organized workshops, discussions and debates on EVS issues, presentation of EVS projects, the visits in current EVS host organizations, other local NGOs and public entities.
The methodology of the project was based on the fundamental principles of non-formal education. The provided methods enabled participants to fully take part in the learning process. Learning from experience was a fundamental pillar in the way the project was facilitated. The following working methods were used: presentations, debates, workshops, discussions, energizers, teamwork. The result of the project was a setting up of a thematic international network on European Voluntary Service on the base of a long-term cooperation between European partner-organizations for strengthening of civil society, active citizenship and democracy through EVS projects.
European Youth Exchange project “Play 4 Change” 2015
The youth exchange project "Play4Change" was created together with partners from Greece, Italy, Belgium, Georgia and Latvia.
Project took place on 27th July – 4th 2015 August in Rezekne, Latvia. It was organized by European Association "World -Our Home" which hosted 40 participants from 5 organizations both European and neighbouring countries. Young people of different cultures and backgrounds came from Greece, Italy, Belgium, Georgia and Latvia but with a common interest, connected through the global language of music. Advance Planning Visit for the leaders and participants (1 group leader and 1 participant from each organization) was organized on 7-9 July 2015.
The project aim was to increase youth potentials and artistic skills to be creative, use their music skills for employment, know better the creative industry in European countries. The project uses music as a tool for non-formal learning in order to improve life chances whilst offering young people the opportunity to progress their music skills and use these skills for employment.
The main themes of the project were youth creativity and employment. The creative young people spent 9 days in the East-Latvian centre of Art Industry “Zeimuls”, exploring and exchanging ideas about the themes of creativity, employment and entrepreneurship, promoting common international artistic youth initiatives, recognition of NFL in youth employability, development of common innovative projects in creative and cultural industries. Project gave a chance to young people to feel the connection with other youngsters, learn from each other and from different cultures, from different musical styles and gave opportunity to build an international band. At the end of the project the participants showed "European Song" on the big stage during Rezekne City Festival.
Grundtvig Senior Volunteering project "Dancing Through Europe!" 2014-2015
The project "Dancing Through Europe!" idea was developed in a long-term cooperation between Latvian and Polish organizations: Instytut Działań Twórczych – IDT from Poland and European Association “World- Our Home” from Latvia. The organizations and participants of the project got a lot of skills and experience in non-formal adult education. Both organizations are recognized in the local communities as providers of high-quality non-formal education and intercultural dialogue.
The main goal of the project was to increase the capacity of these organizations by sending and hosting 12 senior volunteers, who actively participated in the project and presented their culture, traditions, dances, songs to the local people. During the project 4 international mobilities for senior people were implemented, and participants gained a valuable international experience, new skills, abilities and knowledge.

European Training Course "Erasmus + and Us" 2014
The training course "Erasmus+ and Us" took place in Rezekne, Latvia. The training course lasted 7 days from 20th till 26th August 2014. European Association "World-Our Home" hosted 30 participants from 12 Programme Countries and 14 organizations from- Latvia, Malta, Romania, Greece, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, France, Cyprus. The participants were youth workers, youth leaders, leaders of the organizations and young people actively working and involved in Youth in Action Programme in the previous years. The main aim of this training was to increase the capacity of European NGOs together with fostering a long term collaboration between EU organizations in the framework of "Erasmus +" and to promote and develop structures and instruments for a high quality and sustainable projects in the future.
The project empowered youth organizations for a new programme "Erasmus +" and for creation of high quality projects in the future, based on the mutual cooperation and experience, and facilitating and promoting a broad-based and successful partnership. This training was designed to give participants the opportunity to share their experience and "know-how" within a new programme, to arrange new contacts, to strengthen and structure the cooperation among the partners for future projects, as well as to increase understanding of European citizenship and democracy and to share the values of the European Union as well as to identify factors and resources which are useful in undertaking initiative and entrepreneurial activities by young people. During this training different workshops, discussions, presentations, round tables, games, team work were organized in order to get participants familiar with each other; every organization’s work and experience in Youth in Action programme and a new programme "Erasmus +" (key activities, priorities, objectives and particular possibilities) were shared among participants.
Youth exchange project “Don’t Worry, Be Healthy” 2013
European youth exchange “Don’t Worry, Be Healthy” took place in Rezekne, Latvia from 4th till 13th June 2013. This exchange aimed to get participants familiar with the fact that sport makes a significant contribution to our wellbeing, playing also an important role in the development of every personality but at the same time influencing development of the economy, environment and society in general. Through this exchange we wanted to use sport and recreation as a tool for improvement of youth’s quality of life, giving them the knowledge and tools that will raise their motivation, self-development, self-reliance, as sport has the power to act as a mobilizing tool in a way that no other activities do.
Combining fun, enjoyment and physical challenges, we wanted to encourage young people to participate in sport activities in order to promote social interaction and well-being. This should lead to development and sustainability of a healthy lifestyle and a life-long attitude in adulthood among participants. The exchange project lasted eight days. During the first days the participants got to know each other, raised awareness of participants about healthy life styles, nutrition, mental relaxation, stress management and etc., combined with different sport activities every day. In the second part of the exchange project the participants prepared for the City Sport event, the final activity that was performed in Rezekne Festival park.
Youth exchange „EcoArt for EcoMission” 2013
European youth exchange "EcoArt for EcoMission" took place on 11-19th May 2013 in Rezekne, Latvia. It was organized by Language and Cultural Centre "World at Our Home", and it gathered 39 participants from 5 countries, both European and neighbouring - Italy, Spain, Georgia, Moldova and Latvia. Main themes of the project were global environmental challenges and the climate change.
The main idea of the project was a promotion of harmonious life with the environment among young people coming from European and neighbouring countries. Young people spent 7 days in a beautiful country-side place near Rezekne, near the biggest lake in our region – Raznas lake, exploring and exchanging ideas about sustainable development and environmental protection and preservation, promoting common international youth initiatives which can help to protect the environment. As such problems like pollution, garbage, waste and global warming are more and more actual nowadays, we invited all these young people to discuss and understand better these topics and worldwide campaigns for global environmental change and ecological issues. Young people mainly worked in 3 groups: EcoTheatre, EcoPhoto and EcoForms. These workshops were designed to deepen the connection between humans and nature in a creative way giving participants a chance to express and explore furthermore their creative spirit and artistic skills.
At the end of the project participants had a chance to present their weekly work during our local annual festival “Art days”, which motto that year was “Green colour - Forest”. Participants presented their art forms through paintings exhibition and two small theatre performances – “Fashion of recycling” about ecological problems in urban communities.

European youth exchange "EmploCreActivity" 2013
The European youth exchange project "EmploCreActivity" took place on 29th July – 7th August 2013 in Rezekne, Latvia. It was organized by Language and Cultural Centre "World at Our Home" which hosted 40 participants from 6 organizations both European and neighbouring countries. The participants were from Greece, Italy, Belgium, Russia, Georgia and Latvia.
The main themes of the project were youth unemployment, creativity and entrepreneurship. The main idea of the project was to unleash youth potentials to be creative and use their skills for entrepreneurship. Creative youth spent 8 days in Rezekne in the hotel Latgale, close by East-Latvian centre of Art industry “Carandash”, exploring and exchanging ideas about the themes of creativity and entrepreneurship, promoting common international artistic youth initiatives, recognition of NFL in youth employability, development of common innovative projects in creative and cultural industries.
The culmination of the project was a musical performance and jam session during Rezekne City Festival to show the inhabitants of the town the youth creativity, entrepreneurship and musical abilities.
