Building Bridges: Exploring Youth Work in Hungary!
From 18th to 22nd August 2025, 6 representatives from European Association “World-Our Home” and 2 participants from Hungarian organisation Youth Bridges Budapest participated in the Erasmus+ Study visit “Building Bridges: Exploring Youth Work in Hungary”.
The programme gathered youth workers and professionals in Budapest to explore Hungarian practices in youth work, share experiences and strengthen cross-border cooperation.
At the beginning of the visit, participants were warmly welcomed by the hosting organisation “Youth Bridges Budapest”.
Organisations presented themselves, while the hosting organisation together with EA “World-Our Home” representatives provided an overview of youth work in Hungary and Latvia.
One of the first visits took place at the Europa Experience Center in Budapest, a recently opened space that allows visitors to discover how the European Union works. Participants learned how decisions taken by the European Parliament, Commission and Council influence people’s lives across Europe. They listened to stories of citizens affected by EU policies, explored opportunities for young people within Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, and reflected on the importance of active European citizenship.
Together with representatives from the partner organisation “Youth Bridges Budapest”, the group visited Community Center B29, operated by the Municipality of Újbuda. The center is dedicated to youth programmes and community-building, with a strong focus on non-formal education, creativity and leisure activities. Representatives from the center and the municipality introduced its mission, daily activities and target groups. The visit also included a hands-on workshop where participants and local young people made handmade things, creating space for intercultural exchange.
Further visits included meetings with partner organisations TVÖLV Youth Association and MAVISZ. Their representatives showcased concrete projects and partnerships with schools, NGOs and municipalities. We changed with the ideas. Organisations TVÖLV Youth Association, MAVISZ and European Association “World-Our Home” are EURODESK Information Points, so it was also interesting to speak about the Eurodesk work in both countries Latvia and Hungary.
The programme concluded with an evaluation session, which served as the final reflection point. Participants looked back on their learning journey, assessed the outcomes of the visit and provided constructive feedback for the future activities.
Overall, the study visit not only deepened participants’ understanding of youth work in Hungary, but also inspired new project ideas and built stronger bridges for future cooperation in the youth field across Europe.
