On 21.05.2025. students at Rēzekne Art and Design Secondary School took part in an inspiring and informative seminar on European opportunities for youth, organized by the European Association “World-Our Home”. As an official Eurodesk Info Point in Rēzekne, Latvia, the association introduced participants to key European Union programmes that open doors for young people to study, travel, volunteer and grow abroad.
The seminar focused on two flagship EU initiatives: the Erasmus+ programme and the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Students learned how these programmes support youth mobility, non-formal education, cultural exchange and volunteering projects across Europe. Real-life examples and success stories were shared to show how these opportunities help young people develop new skills, gain international experience, and become more active citizens. EA “World-Our Home” ESC volunteer from Turkey Büşra Uzunkoca shared her personal story and experience of volunteering in Latvia. Her engaging presentation gave students a real-life perspective on what it’s like to live and work abroad as a young volunteer and how international experiences can shape one’s future.
Many of the young participants came from rural areas, making the event especially significant in reaching youth who often face limited access to international information and mobility resources. The seminar aimed to empower these young people with knowledge and motivation to explore the world, develop new skills and broaden their horizons.
The seminar was highly interactive, with many students asking questions and showing keen interest in the opportunities presented. Organizers emphasized the importance of international experience in today’s world and encouraged the youth to step out of their comfort zones and become active citizens of Europe.
This event was a valuable step in empowering young people in Rēzekne with the knowledge and inspiration needed to take advantage of EU-supported opportunities.
The European Association “World-Our Home” is committed to encouraging and guiding young people in Latgale and beyond to take full advantage of EU-funded programmes. Events like this are essential in building awareness, motivation and confidence among youth to explore the world and invest in their personal development.
