Open-air event: THE NATIONS’ PICNIC! was organized on 10th May in Rēzekne National Society Cultural House.
Held under the open skies, the celebration brought together a diverse array of cultures, uniting the community in a festive and heartwarming atmosphere.
The event kicked off with a multicultural concert featuring talented performers from Latvian, Latgalian, Polish, Slavic and Armenian backgrounds. The stage came alive with music and dance, reflecting the richness and harmony of the different cultures that make up our society.
A highlight of the evening was a stunning performance of traditional Armenian folk dance, beautifully presented by European Association “World-Our Home” ESC volunteer Hripsime Amiryan from Armenia. The audience was also treated to a flavorful experience, enjoying authentic Turkish sweets prepared also by European Association “World-Our Home” ESC volunteer volunteers from Turkey Büşra Uzunkoca and Deniz Can – a true taste of international friendship and generosity.
Throughout the evening, visitors explored hands-on creative workshops, tried their luck in fun lotteries, and shopped at the charming mini-market offering handmade jewelry, decorations and souvenirs.
The grand finale of the event was an electrifying fire show by the Estonian theatre group Flying Cow, which left the audience amazed and brought the evening to a dazzling close.
The Nations’ Picnic once again proved to be more than just an event – it was a celebration of unity, creativity and the beauty of cultural diversity. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this evening unforgettable.
