European Association „World-Our Home” celebrated European Day!
Europe Day is a day of celebration for peace and unity in Europe. It is celebrated on the 5th of May by the Council of Europe and on the 9th of May by the European Union. The first recognition of Europe Day was by the Council of Europe, introduced in 1964. Europe Day symbolizes the EU’s core values: peace, democracy, and unity.
In Rezekne, Latvia we celebrated this day on the 9th of May with the local young people, children, volunteers and all interested people. Our European Solidarity Corps volunteer Sevcan Bozkurt from Turkey was one of the speakers where she did a speech about Erasmus+ and Erasmus Solidarity Corps.
Local volunteers and young people presented to the audience information about European Union, about upcoming European Parliament elections. Together with children, young people we made creative poster instalation to promote European Union and European Parliament elections.
Our volunteer Sevcan spoke about Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps, she presented the key initiatives by the European Union aimed at fostering education, training, youth, and sport across Europe. Erasmus+ offers opportunities for students, educators, and institutions to engage in international exchange programs, enhancing learning experiences and cultural understanding. This program supports a wide range of actions, including student and staff mobility, strategic partnerships, and cooperation for innovation. On the other hand, the European Solidarity Corps focuses on young people aged 18-30, providing them with opportunities to volunteer or work in solidarity projects that benefit communities and address societal challenges across Europe. Both programs aim to promote personal and professional development, social inclusion, and active citizenship, contributing to a more cohesive and educated European society.
In general we can say that Europe is Our Home and we are happy and proud of it and we are happy living under a peaceful sky.
