15–24 July 2025 | Oldenburg, Germany
From 15 to 24 July 2025, Oldenburg, Germany became a hub of empathy, creativity, and connection as 37 young people from six countries came together for the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project “REVOLUTION”.
Organized by Jugendkulturarbeit e.V. and supported by partner organizations from across Europe, including European Association “World – Our Home” (Latvia), the project explored how love can be a force for social transformation. Inspired by the teachings of bell hooks, participants looked at revolutions not only as political events but as human experiences rooted in empathy, solidarity, and care.
A Journey of Connection and Creativity.
Over ten powerful days, participants aged 20–24 engaged in a rich program of workshops, discussions, and artistic activities focused on the theme “love as a tool for change.” The group explored topics such as:
The exchange featured interactive theatre, visual arts workshops, and collaborative group work that allowed participants to express their own visions of justice and unity. Key messages such as “Make love, not war” and “Yes, we care” were brought to life through creative expression and shared dialogue.
Empowering Youth Through Shared Experience.
What made REVOLUTION truly special was the intercultural spirit that brought together diverse voices and experiences. Participants didn’t just learn about love and change — they lived it, forming a temporary international community built on trust, openness, and mutual support.
Each day, the group deepened their understanding of how small actions and interpersonal connections can spark meaningful societal shifts. Many described the project as a life-changing experience that challenged their assumptions, expanded their worldview, and inspired future action.
Latvian Team – Powered by European Association “World – Our Home”
The Latvian delegation was proudly coordinated by European Association “World – Our Home”, who selected and supported six enthusiastic young people eager to contribute to and grow from this meaningful journey. The Latvian team brought energy, reflection, and deep commitment to the group, and returned home with new friendships and fresh motivation for local and international activism.
Looking Back – and Forward
REVOLUTION may have ended in July, but its impact continues. Participants left with not only new knowledge and skills, but with a renewed belief in the power of love as a revolutionary act — a force that binds communities, drives justice, and transforms societies.
💬 “This project helped me see that love isn’t just personal — it’s political, and it’s powerful. I feel more hopeful about change.” – Participant from Latvia
The project was funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, and proved once again that when young people come together with open hearts and shared purpose, change is not only possible — it’s already happening.
